Question 1

Hello everyone, my name is Prachi Bhuraria, I am a student of BBA.,LL.B.(Hons.), also a member of Litigium, DebSoc of JLU-SOL.

My point of view in regards to punishment can be summed up in a word "BALANCE".

The purpose behind punishment should be to teach them a lesson that the person will acknowledge for their future experiences without creating a fear or self doubt in the other person's mind, that's the aftermath of punishment which we need to balance. We need to look into the intensity of the punishment for each situation and make sure that it doesn't over power the purpose that we actually want to fulfill.

We need to use this tool wisely and very careful to get the best results out of it. Getting the right balance is thinking, is your behavior actually leading you to reach your end goal and then executing the action accordingly. That's why overdoing and under doing it both is harmful in their own ways.

To create a balance one must analyze that does this situation demands for a punishment, if yes then of what intensity or we can just talk it out of the mind of the other person and make them realise what they did wrong, also a punishment that causes physical hurt is never acceptable.

Lastly, balance is something which is difficult to achieve, it might take time but it is the key to growth.
