Minakshi Arora has over fourteen years of experience in the nonprofit sector in India. She holds a Masters Degree in Political Science and in English also. She has completed her Masters of Philosophy in Political Science. Recently she has been awarded a graduate degree in LAW. Ms. Arora, being brought up in a rural background; experienced so many challenges in the society...ie. Lack of education and rights, sanitary facilities, manual scavenging etc...This made her to work for the Knowledge Networking among the communities. At Present she is working as a Yamuna Waterkeeper for Swimmable, Fishable and Drinkable Waters Globally. She is a member of Waterkeeper Alliance, U.S.. She is the founder and managing trustee of Trust for Research on Earth and Environment (TREE); an organisation for social change that raises awareness about important water challenges and connects people to opportunities for sharing their experiences for solution. Being a community activist she has organised various grass root level advocacy and knowledge campaigns with an extensive background of media relations, communications, and public policy work. From 2008 Ms. Arora is working as a managing editor for India Water Portal; an open source web based, water knowledge portal in Hindi, initiated by National Knowledge Commission and supported by Arghyam. She has written so many articles focusing on developmental and environmental issues. For last ten years she is not only writing continuously on WASH issues but organising various Educational activities for Youth and Media. She is working with Fluoride and Arsenic knowledge and Action Network to bring out the sustainable solutions to mitigate the problems. She is working to revive the springs throughout the country. She is making efforts in Bundelkhand area to provide sustainable solutions for Water conservation and management and empowered the communities to become financially strong. She has won Kaka Saheb kalelkar Journalist Award, UNESCO-Water Digest Water Award, 2009-10. She has been honored with various International Awards; Water Champion Award by IWA, Green Apple Environment International Award. Youth Outreach Award for Green City by Earth Day Network and special recognition award for her efforts towards green city initiative by Earth Day Network.
