15 अगस्त, 1947 को भारत ने अंग्रेजों से अपनी स्वतंत्रता जीत ली। अधिकांश पूर्व उपनिवेश स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों को याद करने के लिए ऐसा दिन मनाते हैं। 26 जनवरी 1950 को भारत का संविधान लागू किया गया था। यह भारत सरकार को ठीक से परिभाषित करने के लिए 2 साल का काम था और सरकार को किन नियमों का पालन करना चाहिए। उस समय तक, हम ब्रिटिश द्वारा निर्धारित व्यापक नियमों का उपयोग कर रहे थे। भारत शायद इस दिन को सबसे अधिक महत्व देता है।
