First we need to diagnose the reason of laziness .They are not liking the class, finding the subject/ topic boring, more into games or stories, attention problem or not healthy. Then you can come up with some innovative techniques to implement the solution.

First we should try to understand his mind status , abilities and interest.Sometime the subjects which is being taught in the class may be an interested for student if we teach him search labours that is much interesting for him may have a good result. As far as I think this process will make student motivated and I will try to learn according to is on mental status and attitude
