Ma'am, i think the thing we lack the most is time management when it comes to syllabus, we are often lost because of so many things happening in schools! 1. Select easy topics that can be studies by the students themselves and prepare notes in the start of the year which you can distribute in the class 2. Some times give opportunity to the students to research the topic and include parents in the process of making sure th e students read about the topic and come in the class 3. Also to add on at times you can do role reversal, ask students to be prepared on the topic and take a class, it will not only teach some responsibility to the students but also help in completing course sooner as some topics will be already be done by them ! i Agree i face th same problem but i know the whole reason that i am still working on my planning skills and time management !

Dear mam it is a common problem with every teacher . All teachers want to complete their syllabus by hook or by crook.... We can complete their syllabus without zero or free period if we teach with a well planning ( Lesson plan)..
