Hello Ma'am, I believe that stories create an impact on us even before we read about them as coursework. In these changing times, the essence of stories is not the same anymore. We don't read about Panchtantra, Jataka Tales or comics like Champak anymore. To create an impact on the students through stories, I'd suggest the following things: 1) Re-read classic tales and ask students to adapt and re-create a story. 2) With time the writing styles have changed; hence, the form of stories kept changing which makes contemporary stories important for the students. 3) Dedicate time for students to indulge in reading and then let them discuss their interpretations. Children see the world from a different perspective when it comes to stories. They become more empathetic, sensitive and sensible. I hope this helps.
