I think the first step is to understand the reason for the child to be lazy and restless. Every behaviour is driven by a reason and in the long term it always helps to know the reasons first. In case there are more than one student then the teacher can at least categorize the broad reasons she or he believes are driving the laziness or restlessness. Thereafter the next step could be to let students know non-verbally through gestures, attention, observation etc. that they are being watched. A percentage of students (may be small numbers) are likely to correct their behaviour. Thereafter, start engaging them more engaging activities instead of the ‘Chalk and Talk’ method. This will hopefully, convert a few more students. Finally, there may remain a section of students who are still not responding. They may need special attention. But, the key is to take small everyday steps to convert most such students
