With the advent of the digital computer, from 1950, skills of weather forecasting have improved. The improvement can be accounted for by a number of parameters like better observation network, improved transaction of the information through fast communication and most of all the increase in the power of the computer.
Weather forecasting modelling is a computer program that provides meteorological information for future times at given locations. In modern forecasting models, Numerical Weather Prediction is mostly applied and this means, “a set of simplified equations used to calculate changes in atmospheric conditions”
The National Weather Service uses supercomputers around the clock to accurately produce forecasts, watches, warnings and a whole host of data for the public.
