A phenomenon called endosmosis takes place when raisins are placed in water for few hours. When raisins are soaked in water, they swell. All this is due to the process of osmosis.

The concentration of the solvent (water) is more than that of the outside medium and solute concentration is high inside the cell due to this, solvent (water) enters the cell and increases turgidity. So, raisins swell up.
