Therefore, the answer is – option (a) – an alcohol and a carboxylic acid can be experimentally distinguished by Sodium bicarbonate test. Additional Information: Sodium bicarbonate test is also known as sodium hydrogen-carbonate test. Carboxylic acid (like any other acid) turns blue litmus red.
