Human, especially a child is very competitive by it's nature, and they require a constant mode to channelize this nature. and what can be a better way for this than educational instititution providing a platform to do so.

Competition is very essential for the growth of an individual. It is at the very core of our soceity and Educational institution aims to prepare one for the society through education. Therefore it is essential for them to prepare students in a holistic manner.

competition provides with an opportunity to learn better, and to think beyond, out of the box. It helps to assess better, improves the cognitive functioning, enhances creativity , teach stress management, helps one to cope up with failures, to overcome them. Basically competiton adds to the life skills.

I differ with this whole notion, that education is supposed to build people for society. It is the other way round, it is the education that develops society.

It was not french revolution that developed the emphasis on learning, it was the learning which lead to questions of Natural rights. The ideas of democracy was not developed in classes, with thinkers fighting in with each other, but through calm dialogues, in no-pressure environments.

The greatest success of humanity has been achieved in an environment which have been non-competitive

but then, why the need for democracy or even the talks? competition is the very essence of the human society and it is from very begining. learning and competition go hand in hand.

Do you think competition is the same for everyone? In a country like India with such wide disparities be it socially or economically, can the role of competition be justified?

i also believe that these competitive exams alone give the students from marginal sections, the opportunity to prove themselves and learn in the prestigious institutes .

no competition is not same for everyone, but then there can be different parameters for such competition.

Competition rather acts a restriction for a child to think out of the box as it forces her to be a part of the rat race.It is the acceptance in the class and in society that a chikd seeks rather than seeking within to look out for her inerests and strengths. We require  cooperative ecosystem than a competitive one

again , that is something where implementation is at fault and not the concept.
