In asexual reproduction, new plants are obtained without the production of seeds. It is a type of asexual reproduction in which new plants are produced from rootsstemsleaves and buds. Since reproduction is through the vegetative parts of the plant, it is known as vegetative propagation.

In some of the plants, the vegetative parts can also be used to grow new plants , it is called vegetative reproduction, one of the methods of asexual reproduction. In this method, the new progeny is identical to it's parent. Eg. rose, mint etc.

The vegetative parts like leaves, stem or root  of some plants can be used to grow new plants because it contains cells which can divide and differentiate to make the whole organism. This mode of asexual reproduction is known as vegetative reproduction.
