Nagaland is the land of festivals with one festival following the other all through the year. Even the name of the festival is symbolic; it is named after the bird hornbill, which has a strong impact in the culture and the folklore of most of the tribal communities of the state.

Nagaland has whopping number of different tribes which bring cultural diversity along with it. All the tribes celebrate special occasions as their festivals. After the harvest season, they also celebrate a 'REST DAY'. As a result every month there is a festival being celebrated in Nagaland. It is therefore rightly famous as the 'Land of Festivals'. With each tribe practising its own rituals and traditions, Nagaland is the only state that has one major festival lined up for all months of a year, hence the name 'Land of festivals' is rightly attached to it.
