That is debatable on so many grounds. If the cause behind the mental breakdown resulting to suicide is not important. Then abetment to suicide wouldn't have been an offense in india. The cause behind students' suicide is the pressure to perform well in examination at all costs. It's no longer a learning process. It's a training camp to ace in the D-Day only. Therefore the only solution is to do away with examination all together.
exactly. Instead of coconning our younger generation from all harms we should better prepare them by using alternatives that Nitikarsh has suggested.
Advocating for a timid and faulty system with the logic of preparation to face all adversities in the future is quite honestly accepting the fault in it yet trying to scoop something good out of it.
27 Nov 2020it still cannot be denied that one of the most important factors deriving students to commit suicides are examinations, for from the very beginning they are taught to ace at them to get good colleges and jobs ahead. and while many of them fail to do so, because not everybody can ace every subject, it becomes the biggest reason for mental pressure as well as suicides.
It's not just about mental health. But under the pressure of exams when students have one moment, one chance to clear their name, they start indulging in desperate measures to pass the exams. Thus affecting their morals and normalizing cheating and other wrong doings. It's okay to cheat so long as you don't get caught. It sets in to subconscious.
Suicide is not a one situation decision for anyone. People who are forced to take their own lives, do so because of the entire system that is in place. One can take an affected child for therapy, but when they get bad marks, in all of their exams repeatedly, despite being smart, and trying their best, no amount of therapy will work as therapy is not a fix, it is a band-aid, and the fix is the abolishment of this unfair system in the first place.
In such a scenario, competition only impacts their minds negatively not helping them for the future, but infact, causing them issues, with respect to their confidence and self worth
27 Nov 2020We are talking about kids from the age 5-16 here, whose minds are not developed fully and are very impressionable, and are not capable of handling 'failure' and derive life lessons from it in the way mature adults do.
27 Nov 2020when we face an obstacle and then win over it, it actually gives experience which stays with us forever .. Obstacles are endless, solution is to face them not run away. Things like sucides have different solutions .
27 Nov 2020what prepares one for bigger challenges is will power and knowing the fact that they can face them effectively, and that is better achieved through continuous comprehensive assessments and not exams. (yes, this is an ad on checking out my post on cca)
