India has been a land of cultural diveristy and integrity . In ancient times, students use to be part of "Gurukul" which was considered to be the place where the students use to learn and gain education for their overall development.
Regular tests were been taken by the " guru " who use to train students based upon their capabilities and how they use to perform in these tests.

Same way, even today In India, school hold examinations with the purpose of evaluating the students and making continuous improvement so that they can be a better individual and a successful person in their life.

An exam in today's indian schools is a end step evaluation concept. How do you think this test at the end of every year actually helps in filling the lacunae that the student faced in the previous year?

I just tried to relate both the aspects, Also, the study pattern is such where the students need to face unit tests, half yearly exams and then the final end term. Each student needs to get min. marks only then he is passed.

I agree that evaluation is required to test the progress but in the time when we have advanced and evolved to a completely different world the vedic world, we need to think of better alternatives to examinations

the fact that technology has advanced so much, and so many vocational subjects have been introduced in the contemporary era cannot be ignored, because vocational development suffers the most, for major emphasis is laid on exams and academic subjects.

Examination promotes “self analysis” where a student appearing for exam can see for himself where he stands in the process of his own learning and educating himself.

With technology, we have changed the approach to examinations and testing. Widening the scope we have practical and application based examinations that test subjects. subjects like english, we have four sections: reading, writing, listening speaking

Researching and creativity are a part of education process. the concepts taught in the class etc. students use their skills and frame answer in their own manner which involves research and creativity both.

well, time management can be inculcated in students through projects and activities as well, but an assessment based entirely on them also promotes other qualities like researching and creativity.

time management is the key to that. things wont be suffered if proper time management is done . In life we need to prioritise things, examinations helps us to understand the priorities and work accordingly.

Not to forget, examinations not only help students to determine their progress, but for the teachers who are teaching to analyse how effective their teaching is. It helps teacher to understand where they stand as a teacher and it helps in improving them and shaping them as a teacher
