As a teacher you can motivate and appreciate the child to take their responsibility as if they are doing their studies regularly they can achieve the  target and secure good marks which will be in benefit for the child and develop the habit of self study for higher class. 

As a Parent, you have to give the child liberty with responsibility to carry with them.
