Many parents mistakenly believe that their children’s education is entirely in the hands of teachers, but research solidly supports the case for parental involvement.

Research from the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education shares that “no matter their income or background, students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school.”

The National PTA reports that “the most accurate predictors of student achievement in school are not family income or social status, but the extent to which the family . . . becomes involved in the child’s education at school.” It’s undeniable that parents who are active supporters of their children’s learning are giving their kids the best opportunity for educational success.

Parental support and involvement can also benefit kids of all ages at a developmental level that extends beyond academics. “When a child can see that their parent(s) is supporting them, they are more likely to take risks and learn something new instead of staying inside the box,” says Ria Simon, early childhood educator and junior account specialist at HiMama.

Higher grades - Kids whose parents are involved in their education get better grades and have higher test scores. And the more parents are involved, the more their children seem to benefit. A study of parents highly involved in the educational process showed that their children were more likely to improve in reading and math.

Improved education - Research shows that parent involvement can help improve the quality of schools, raise teacher morale, and improve a school's reputation in the community. Involved parents gain the respect of teachers; as a the result, teachers have higher expectations of their children

Young Children spend good amount of time at home and parents are around them for larger part of time. By involving parents, learning at school can further be strengthened and parents will not teach in different styles. This will help children in getting concepts more and more clear

Parents are the first and permanent teachers and involving them in the school program would help and support children's learning. Teachers can know many things about children's behaviour and their learning style from.their parents which would eventually encourage children to open up and share at the school.

However , involving parents doesn't mean complaining about the child and shaming the child in front of the family or in the classroom.

Parents can also be involved as volunteer like telling a story once a month or  sharing one game in the classroom or teaching a class to make a favourite paper toy or a puppet.

This would make the bond between teachers and families stronger.
