I'm Vidhi Panjwani and I'll be speaking against the given topic.

We all have hear that punishments are necessary for the improvement and also to make sure that same mistakes won't repeat in future. But considering the student's point of view, in some cases it develops a repulsive image and in such situation rather than learning from those mistakes students try to hide it and prefer to be secretive and maintaining discipline in such a way is not at all a good option to choose.

Yes, this is true. Students begin to hide the truth from their teachers and parents. No point of giving rise to dishonest adults

And this is why punishment must be given, but not very grave that will mentally impact them. But rather subtle and e ones to teach them to not commit those again.

What can actually be done by teachers is making the students realise the mistakes , explaining the irreversible implications of it and that what impact it will cause on the student's life/future

That's why one should maintain a balance to the intensity of the punishment because if overdone it doesn't solve the purpose as rather than student understanding what their mistakes are, it creates a negative effect.
