Why is discussing gender with students is important?

Every day, children and women have experiences, opportunities and vulnerabilities that are gendered. And it starts at a very young age and school plays a significant role in perpetuating the gendered environment.If we don't correct notions of the children in school then they will carry the wrong notion throughout their lives and it would be harmful for the child. For example, if a boy sees his father beating his mother everyday and his friend tell him that girls are weak then he would beating his wife as well thinking women deserve this as they are weak sex but if the boys' notion is corrected when he is in school then he might treat women with respect and might not be like his father. Our society is so gendered and because of that discrimination and violence becomes a problem that needs to be solved from school as school is the place where we shape a child's mindset.
