Hi Aleesha, it is always very challenging to discuss a sensitive topic like gender with young children. With very young children, we don't usually engage in difficult conversations with them but use simple activities, games, videos, sports, for instance, in the sports class, you encourage both girls and boys to play together and at the end of the game, ask them to share their learnings from the game and talk about how everyone gave their best irrespective of their gender. You can also encourage girls and boys to sit together, talk about each other problems and allow a space where they can express each themselves without gender binaries. So you can teach them gender equity without even taking an entire session on it which they might not even understand. As a teacher, you need to first make sure that the classroom and school is a gender inclusive space and encourage children to interact with all gender without any biases.
