The foundation of a child's connection with nature is laid with his birth. I feel it is a major objective of education system to establish that connection by nurturing it. The walls of the classroom and focus on evaluation rather than learning tend to disconnect that link. It is very important to converge different elements of nature and catapult them together with the curriculum to create a better learning atmosphere. Take them outside, and quench their inquisition by answering all their queries. Assessment should be continuous through re-iterative measures. Also, it is not possible to keep them outside all the time. In that case, the classes should be interactive rather than a teacher just explaining all the lessons away. This can be done in following ways- 1. By Asking them to relate the concept with their daily life. 2. By giving them situations, and taking their input of how they would react and act. 3. By turning concepts into demonstrations. 4. By involving sense of sight, touch and even smell instead of just hearing. 5. By giving them examples or playing fun games. 6. By making them understand why and how the concept being taught to them is important. 7. By implementing learning strategies like acronyms, port-manteux etc. Thanks.
