How  can we reiterate the importance of studying History amongst students today?

We as humans are not living in isolation. There are other species that share the planet with us. The study of history helps us understand where we come from and what are the changes that we have seen to reach this point in time. Just by the knowledge/information/ understanding of the past we can be aware about what to do and  what not to do.  Our history gives us our identity. And having one's identity is very important and we realize this especially as we get older and more mature.
