The teacher firstly must have a good bank of stories and passion for using the same with and for children. A simple story told well can work wonders. You may or may not use props but a well told story can capture attention of any age group of children. Try to make eye contact with children, make them sit closer to you preferably in a semi circle, use language they all are familiar with, give pauses at the right time, involve them in stories and they will travel with you in the world of stories.
